The "Most Popular" widget at the top of the home page is the popular posts widget. The widget is already configured to display the most popular posts (posts with the most views) from the last 30 days. If you want to change that to 7 days, all time or last year, go to Layout > scroll down to "Home Before Content" > open the "Most Popular" widget. You can change the title, too.
